This 4-day course is designed to advance experienced RYA Dinghy Instructors to the Senior Instructor level, equipping them to manage multi-level courses and oversee safety within an RYA sailing school.

Course Prerequisites

  • RYA Safety Boat qualification
  • Two years part-time or one year full-time experience as an RYA Dinghy Instructor
  • Valid RYA First Aid Certificate
  • Written recommendation from an RYA Principal or qualified RYA official
  • RYA Safe and Fun Safeguarding Certificate
  • Ability to sail to the Dinghy Instructor pre-entry standard

Course Focus

This course covers session preparation, course management, powerboat handling in instructional settings, and the role of a Senior Instructor. Training includes simulated group management on the water with continuous assessment throughout.

 

Pre Work

Senior Instructor Workbook. This is some 50 pages of information and exercises that needs to be completed before the course. It is designed to help you with the course.
