Course Introduction
This 1-day course is designed to provide a working knowledge of first aid for people using small craft and to support skippers. It fulfills the requirements for professional skippers working within 60 miles of a safe haven, as well as RYA Instructors. The course is MCA and HSE approved and provides essential first aid training for those involved in recreational or professional boating.
Course Content
The course covers:
- Basic First Aid techniques relevant to small craft environments
- First aid for common injuries and emergencies in maritime settings
- MCA and HSE requirements for professional skippers
- Practical first aid skills for dealing with on-board emergencies
- Knowledge required to support RYA Instructors and others in marine environments
Pre-requisites and Assumed Knowledge
No prior first aid experience is required, though a general understanding of boating and marine safety is beneficial.
Ability After Course
Upon successful completion, participants will:
- Be qualified in RYA First Aid, meeting MCA and HSE standards.
- Hold a certificate valid for 3 years.
