By the end of this two-day introductory course, you will have the basic understanding of how a boat sails, and some experience of steering and handling a boat. This course will allow supervised, structured learning in a very safe environment.

You will be learning how to launch and recover the boat, how to sail across the wind, turning around, steer, and know the basic parts of the boat. These skills will be assessed, and if the individual demonstrates competence by the end of the course, they will be awarded their RYA Stage 1. It is not uncommon for some participants to take the course more than once to ensure they feel confident on the water.
The RYA Logbook G11 which logs your progress through the RYA scheme is incuded in this course.
