Course introduction
Progress your sailing journey with the RYA Youth Stage 2 course, building upon the foundational skills learned in Stage 1. This course will enhance your sailing confidence, introducing you to more advanced techniques and greater independence on the water. Suitable for ages 7+, this is the next step to becoming a competent small boat sailor.

Course content

  • Refinement of sailing skills on all points of sail.
  • Introduction to tacking and gybing with improved boat control and speed.
  • Ropework and essential knots.
  • Techniques to avoid collisions and navigate safely.

Pre-requisites and assumed knowledge
Completion of the RYA Youth Stage 1 course.

Ability after course
Participants will have improved sailing confidence and skills, mastering tacking, gybing, and basic collision avoidance. Successful completion leads to the RYA Stage 2 certification, preparing sailors for independent practice or progression to Stage 3.
