Sailing Week for Improvers

Course Introduction

The Sailing Week for Improvers is designed for young sailors who are eager to take their sailing skills to the next level. This course is ideal for children who have completed their RYA Youth Stage 2 (or higher) and want to continue developing their abilities in a fun and supportive environment. Participants will experience day sails throughout Chichester Harbour, enjoy group sailing challenges, and build upon their existing skills with expert tuition from our experienced instructors.

Course Content

Throughout the week, participants will:

  • Focus on developing more advanced sailing techniques.
  • Take part in day sails around Chichester Harbour, exploring new areas and challenges.
  • Participate in group sailing challenges to improve their teamwork, navigation, and boat-handling skills.
  • Practice sailing in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Build on existing RYA Youth Stage 2 skills with more complex sailing tasks and manoeuvres.
  • Wetsuits, waterproof tops, and buoyancy aids will be provided.

Pre-requisites and Assumed Knowledge

  • Pre-requisites: RYA Youth Stage 2 or equivalent experience.
  • Participants should be comfortable sailing independently in light winds.

Ability After Course

By the end of the week, participants will have refined their sailing techniques, gained confidence in more challenging conditions, and be ready to progress to more advanced sailing levels such as RYA Youth Stage 3 or beyond. This course will improve boat handling, confidence, and teamwork on the water.

  • Please Remember: Children should bring a packed lunch, snacks, and their RYA Sailing Scheme Log Book.

  • Log books are essential for tracking progress through the RYA Sailing Scheme.
  • A full schedule with specific daily activities will be provided on the first day.
